“APC has buried Nigeria’s democracy” — Uche Secondus lament

  • Prince Uche Secondus, former PDP Chairman, expresses concern over the potential loss of democratic principles in 2027 due to the APC’s rule.
  • Secondus stated this in a statement signed by his Media Adviser, Ike Abonyi, in Abuja on Tuesday.
  • The ex-PDP Chairman addressed the recent Edo State governorship election results and events.
  • The election was a meticulous process where every rule was rearranged to ensure the APC candidate’s victory.

Secondus explained his interests in a statement released by his Media Guide, Ike Abonyi, in Abuja on Tuesday.

Secondus described the occasions in Edo State as an obtrusive showcase of electing misrepresentation, without any regard for law and order or the electorate’s will.

He brought up that the results of ongoing off-cycle races in Imo, Kogi, and Edo states exhibit that the Free Public Discretionary Commission (INEC), drove by Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu, shows no responsibility for the defective decisions led in 2023, which he accepts have seriously hurt Nigeria’s popularity based trustworthiness.

Furthermore, he highlighted the “shameless boast” of APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, who indicated that the party intends to replicate the Edo model in upcoming off-cycle elections in Ondo and Anambra states, suggesting that the ruling party’s goal is to establish a one-party state by suppressing opposition voices.

Secondus said, “The beauty of democracy is the opposing voices that help to check the ruling party but APC is set to ground Nigeria with their misrule yet won’t tolerate variance views.

“Nigeria’s democracy is sitting on the keg of gunpowder because of rigging. If the Edo Election stands it will be difficult to carry on elections in Nigeria going forward.”

He underlined that the control of the political decision in Edo State was outrageous, starting with the provocation and detainment of resistance pioneers, as well as the compromising of key figures like security faculty and electing authorities.

“The World is watching the shame we bring to this beautiful form of government that other nations apply to stabilize and develop their countries.” He quipped.
