Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has announced that the 6,000-capacity Edo Arena will be named after Afro Beats global star Rema.

The governor announced the project’s groundbreaking ceremony in Benin City on Wednesday.

Rema attended the groundbreaking ceremony for Edo Arena in Benin, alongside the governor, where he laid the first block.

Rema, who was available in Benin for his homecoming concert at Ogbe Arena, partook in the service close by the lead representative, where he laid the principal block of the Arena.

“It was a privilege to have our international music icon @heisrema with me for the groundbreaking of the 6,000-capacity Edo Arena. The venue, which will be named ‘Rema’s Dome,’ is situated at the former Garrick Memorial School Ground on Ekenhuan Road in Benin City,” stated Governor Obaseki in a post on X shortly after the event.

The governor explained that upon its consummation, the Arena will be the scene for various occasions, including shows, public meetings, conferences, and other critical get-togethers.

He further noticed that the Arena is supposed to attract more guests to the state, giving them an amazing chance to experience the rich culture and contributions of Edo; in this manner, creating work opens doors for youths.
