Nigerian woman Amma shared the story behind the viral `Gwo Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo’ social media challenge that went viral on TikTok based on the traditional Igbo story of is the turtle and the elephant.

This seems difficult to do, but Tortoise, one of Elephant`s friends, tricked Elephant into the palace by pretending that Elephant was invited to the Ofala festival of the Igbo people.

While walking, the tortoise asked the elephant to carry his back and the elephant agreed.

Then the tortoise asked for a rope to tie around the elephant`s neck. This request seems innocent and does not cause any fear of the elephant.

However, when the groom arrived at the palace, announced that he had captured the elephant and sent it to the king, while the rope was still tied around the elephant`s neck.

Ama said that in Igbo culture, a chain tied around the neck of an animal represents ownership. The wisdom of the tortoise really means that he has "captured" the elephant.

This story is a cautionary tale made by famous Nigerian singer Mike Ajega`s song `Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo`.
