Nigerians via virtual entertainment have started to offer appreciation to Onyeka Onwenu, the late singer/lyricist and broadcaster.

The 72-year-old kicked the bucket in a Lagos emergency clinic on Tuesday, July 30, after performing at  Stella Okoli’s 80th birthday celebration party.


Nigerians, especially those in media, have taken to web-based entertainment to communicate their sympathies and implore the multitalented entertainer find happiness in the share beyond.


Omawumi, a singer, came to Instagram to grieve her death, posting a candlelight photograph with a grief-stricken emoji.

Regina Askia, an entertainer, shared a photograph of Onyeka Onwenu on her Instagram page, communicating her bitterness over her demise.


Malaika, a Fuji entertainer, prayed for her soul to rest in harmony. He composed, “Wow! May her spirit rest in peace.”

I knew her, and we reinforced over my affection for her music, which enhanced my initial years. It was one of the best distinctions of my life to team up with her and Panam Percy Paul on a cause single I chief created. She was known as the Exquisite Steed which is as it should be. Furthermore, the explanation is that she raised music and masterfulness with her normal appeal and stage presence. Onyeka Onwenu was an incredible resource for Nigeria and a critical star on the African landmass and then some. She will be enormously missed. May her spirit rest in peace!
