Jide Ekene, a Nollywood entertainer, went to Instagram to address the Nigerian government in the midst of the continuous cross country hunger protest.
He clarified that power isn`t permanent for them.
His words;
”My fellow Nigerians, 🇳🇬
I bring to you a message of trust, harmony, and progress as we stand near the very edge of a huge crossroads in our set of experiences. Tomorrow, as we walk to request a superior way of life, I ask that those we depended with authority will regard our voices and not choose to disregard our cries.
Let us recall the Igbo maxim, “Egbe belu, Ugo ebelu,” which advises us that power isn`t long-lasting. Pioneers today can be devotees tomorrow, and no circumstance endures for eternity. Our battle isn`t against people however against a framework that has permitted blunder to endure. We request that people with significant influence recollect the typical Nigerian, for they were once from our perspective, and their kids may one day stroll in them too.
This is a battle for solidarity and progress, not division. It’s a call for everybody, no matter what their situation, to perceive and address the enduring of our compatriots. The Igbo saying, “Akwa Nwanne na emetuta na obi,” lets us know that we should answer the calls of our own.
Our venture has been troublesome, and our difficulties monstrous. It is urgent that African chiefs focus on Nigeria’s predicament. If Nigeria, the “Giant of Africa,” vacillates, what expectation stays for our neighbors?
We should transcend struggle and view this not as a conflict, but rather as a call for equity and value. Allow the individuals who to have never experienced difficulty be quick to project a stone.
I leave you with the strong word from Kenya’s escutcheon: “HARAMBE,” and that implies “Let’s pull together.” Let us cooperate, help one another, care, and offer as we take a stab at a superior Nigeria”.
