Agriculture Summit Africa 2026: Why This Abuja Gathering Matters for Nigeria's Food Future

Not every big event in Abuja this September is about music or comedy — some are about the future of what ends up on our plates. Agriculture Summit Africa (ASA) 2026 holds September 15–16 at Transcorp Hilton Abuja, and it's shaping up to be one of the most important gatherings on the continent's business calendar this year.

Now in its ninth edition and convened by Sterling Bank, ASA 2026 runs under the theme "Building the Next Superpower: Africa's Food Power Play," tackling a hard truth — Africa has the land, labour and appetite to feed itself, yet still depends heavily on imports. That's the paradox the two-day summit sets out to confront.

For attendees, this isn't just another talk-shop conference. Expect high-level plenary sessions, deal-making rooms, innovation showcases, and cross-border trade roundtables designed to turn conversation into real, measurable impact. Past editions have pulled serious weight too — previous summits featured Nigeria's Vice President and top economists from Afreximbank, so the calibre of speakers and policy conversations tends to be genuinely high-level.

Who should be paying attention? Farmers, agribusiness owners, investors, policymakers, and honestly, anyone curious about where Nigeria's food economy is headed. If you're in agribusiness or fintech-meets-agric, this is where deals actually start — not just handshakes, but real B2B connections and access to development partners like IFC.

Best part: it's free to attend, which is rare for a summit of this scale. If you register early via the official site, you get a front-row seat to conversations that could shape agricultural policy and investment for the next few years.

Whether you're a smallholder farmer looking for opportunity or a corporate exec scouting Africa's next big food-sector play, ASA 2026 is two days well spent in Abuja this September.
